How to Easily Delete and Edit a Posted TikTok Story

TikTok offers various exciting features for users to share short videos, one of which is the Story feature. Similar to Instagram, TikTok Stories are temporary and will automatically disappear after 24 hoursTo view someone's Story on TikTok, simply tap the circular icon on their profile picture located on the right side of the app.

However, after posting a Story, you might realize there was a typo or an editing mistake. In such cases, it's important to delete or edit the Story immediately so others won’t see the error. Here’s a step-by-step guide to deleting and editing Stories on TikTok.

How to Delete a TikTok Story

According to TikTok’s Help Center, here’s how you can quickly delete a Story:

1. Open the Story You Want to Delete

Before deleting a Story, you need to find it first. Here are a few ways to access your own Story:

  • Go to Profile, then tap the circular profile picture at the top.
  • Open the Inbox menu, where your Story appears on the far left of the Story list.

2. Delete the Story

Once you’ve opened the Story you want to remove, you can delete it using one of the following methods:

  • Method 1: Swipe up to see the list of users who have viewed your Story, then tap the trash icon in the top left corner and select Delete.
  • Method 2: Tap the three dots icon in the bottom right corner, select the trash icon, then confirm by choosing Delete.

How to Edit a Posted TikTok Story

Instead of deleting, TikTok also allows you to edit a Story after it has been posted. The process is similar to deleting a Story, but this time you’ll use the Delete and Re-edit option. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Profile menu at the bottom right.
  2. Tap your circular profile picture to view your uploaded Stories.
  3. Select the Story you want to edit.
  4. Tap the three dots icon at the bottom right.
  5. Choose the trash icon, then select Delete and Re-edit.
  6. You’ll be redirected to the Story editor before posting.
  7. Make necessary changes, such as correcting text or adding effects.
  8. Tap Your Story to re-upload the edited Story.
