How to View Connected Wi-Fi Password on Android & iPhone

We often forget the Wi-Fi password after a device successfully connects. This can be an issue when a friend or family member wants to use the same network. However, as long as the device has not undergone a factory reset, Wi-Fi information, including the password, remains stored and can be accessed again.

Wi-Fi is protected by a password to prevent unauthorized access. If you want to see the password of a connected Wi-Fi network on your phone, there are several ways to do so.

How to View a Connected Wi-Fi Password on a Phone

Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi option.
  4. Choose Saved Networks to see a list of previously connected Wi-Fi networks.
  5. Select the network whose password you want to view.
  6. Tap Share.
  7. Enter your fingerprint or phone security PIN.
  8. A QR code will appear, containing the SSID and Wi-Fi password.
  9. Scan the QR code using a scanner app or copy the password displayed below it.

iPhone

  1. Make sure your iPhone is connected to the Wi-Fi network whose password you want to find.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Wi-Fi.
  4. Find the currently connected network.
  5. Tap the "i" icon next to the network name.
  6. Select the Password option.
  7. Enter your device passcode or use Face ID for verification.
  8. The Wi-Fi password will be displayed on the screen.

Besides using a phone, the Wi-Fi password can also be found on the modem, but only if it has not been changed. Typically, the default password is printed on the bottom of the modem and should be updated after the initial setup.
