Dream Screen was first introduced in September 2023 and initially functioned only to create virtual backgrounds based on text descriptions in a green screen format. However, the feature has now evolved, allowing users to create standalone video clips that can be directly uploaded to Shorts.

How to Use the Dream Screen Feature

To access this feature, users simply open the Shorts camera, select the media picker, and press the "Create" option at the top. They can then enter a text description to generate a video and customize elements such as style, lens, cinematic effects, and clip duration.

Currently, the Dream Screen feature is only available to users in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. YouTube plans to expand the availability of this feature to more countries in the future.
