6 Powerful New One UI 7 Features in Samsung Galaxy S25

The Galaxy S25 series is the first to receive One UI 7, following Samsung's beta release for select users last month.

"The beta program offers a first look at an upgraded mobile user experience for greater personalization than ever before," Samsung stated on its official website.

Samsung mentioned that this beta program has been the most successful to date. In fact, the first beta phase of One UI 7 was closed twice as quickly as its predecessor.

During the testing phase, the AI features in One UI 7 became the main highlight. Samsung has promised to continue improving these capabilities based on user feedback.

Additionally, Samsung has confirmed that the One UI 7 update will be available for all devices in the Galaxy S series. The update process is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2025, as reported by Android Police.

Some of the key features introduced in One UI 7 include:

1. Now Bar

Now Bar is a pill-shaped widget located on the lock screen. Samsung utilizes machine learning to analyze user actions and data.

This widget can display information from currently running apps, such as a music player or stopwatch. It also provides action buttons for relevant tasks, like skipping or pausing.

Additionally, Now Bar presents relevant events, such as suggesting an alarm if there is a scheduled morning activity.

2. Notifications

In One UI 7, swiping down on the screen will display notifications, while swiping down from the top-right corner will open the quick settings menu.

Users can switch between these menus by swiping left or right while one of them is open. This separation provides more space for UI elements. Notifications now appear bolder with wider spacing, and the number of quick settings buttons has increased from 20 to 24.

3. Enhanced Visuals and More Lock Screen Customization Options

One UI 7 introduces a brighter color palette for notifications and quick settings. Additionally, lock screen customization options have been expanded.

Users can now add more widgets, such as weather information or battery status. There is also a vertically scrolling app drawer, making it easier to navigate through all installed apps.

4. Notification Filtering

One UI 7 includes a notification filter feature, allowing users to sort old notifications, notifications from background apps, or minimized ones.

These filter groups will appear below the main notifications, and users can click on them to view the filtered notifications. With this feature, the screen remains more organized, ensuring that important notifications are not buried under excessive alerts.

5. Good Lock Now Available Globally

Good Lock was previously introduced by Samsung but was only available in select regions. With One UI 7, Samsung has finally launched Good Lock globally. The app can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store and Play Store.

Good Lock allows users to customize their phone’s appearance, such as:

  • Placing icons and widgets without following a grid layout
  • Saving videos directly to storage via USB-C
  • Adding stickers and creating custom app icons
  • Manually organizing apps

6. Adaptive Charging Options

One UI 7 features adaptive charging, which was previously available on some Android phones to help extend battery lifespan.

With this update, users can limit charging to 80%, set a charging cycle between 95% and 100%, and adjust charging patterns based on their sleep schedule.

Overall, One UI 7 brings significant improvements, including better visual design, more advanced AI features, and greater customization options for users. With updates scheduled until the first quarter of 2025, Samsung ensures a more personalized and efficient experience across all Galaxy S series devices.
