Canalys has released a list of the 10 best-selling smartphones of 2024 based on shipment volumes for the year. Overall, the global smartphone market experienced a 7% growth in 2024, with total shipments reaching 1.22 billion units.

In the list published by the research firm, three Samsung devices made it into the rankings, becoming the best-selling Android phones of the year. These three devices are the Galaxy A15, Galaxy A15 5G, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

3 Best-Selling Samsung Phones in 2024

1. Galaxy A15

The Samsung Galaxy A15 4G variant became the Android phone with the highest shipment volume in 2024.

Introduced in late 2023, this device secured fourth place in Canalys’ rankings, surpassing several latest iPhone models, such as the iPhone 16 Pro in fifth place and the iPhone 16 in seventh place.

2. Galaxy A15 5G

Like its 4G version, the Galaxy A15 5G also made it onto Canalys’ list of best-selling smartphones of 2024. This device ranked eighth, just one spot above Samsung’s flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

“Upgrading current users of the mid-range A-series to the standard and plus models will be a key element for Samsung to achieve its ambition," Canalys reported on Monday (3/2/2025).

3. Galaxy S24 Ultra

As Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra secured ninth place in the list of best-selling smartphones in 2024. Canalys noted that the S series, especially the Ultra variant, recorded the highest sales volume since 2019 compared to previous models.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features a 200 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. On the front, there's a 12 MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Samsung is determined to continue the growth of the S series with the launch of the Galaxy S25, focusing on AI-powered experiences, including integration with Gemini Advanced subscriptions.

List of the 10 Best-Selling Smartphones of 2024

According to Canalys’ report, the list of the top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2024 was dominated by Apple and Samsung. The iPhone 15 took the top spot, followed by the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max in second and third place, respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy A15 4G was the only Android device in the top five, ranking fourth, ahead of the iPhone 16 Pro in fifth place and the iPhone 15 Pro in sixth place. The iPhone 16 followed in seventh place, while the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G secured eighth place.

In ninth place, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra made it onto the list, followed by the iPhone 13, which remains one of the best-selling smartphones, ranking tenth.
