Apple heavily satirized by Google at Pixel 9 Series launch
Not long ago Google just held a meeting with the aim of introducing its latest product, which is still from the Pixel 9 family at an event called Made by Google. In the exhibition of its products supported by artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Google issued many statements that tended to be like satirizing one of its competitors who had just jumped into the world of AI, namely Apple.
There are approximately five insinuations stated by Google against Apple at the time of the release of the Pixel 9 Series. Actually this insinuation is implied, aka not blatant, but there are also those that are explicit. Then, what are Google's allusions to Apple?
1. Apple Intelligence supports English only.
Sameer Samat, President of Google's Android Ecosystem said their AI digital assistant, Gemini, can understand about 45 languages in more than 200 regions and countries. Obviously this is a slap in the face for Apple, because Apple's similar AI feature will only be available in the United States later this year, and even then it only supports English. Samat said “Gemini is now available worldwide and supports foreign languages beyond English. In addition, this technology is also available in many countries around the world (not just the US),”
2. Apple shares data with third parties.
Still related to Gemini, Samat explained that Gemini works very well on Android devices without the help of third parties. This is certainly different from Apple collaborating with OpenAI to connect the ChatGPT chatbot into the Siri digital assistant. “Gemini can respond and answer user questions with the system and cloud under Google. This makes us not rely on third parties and keeps our AI system safe and reliable,” said Samat.
3. Apple does demos with tapping (video recording)
When releasing the latest iPhone product, Apple usually makes the event as neat as possible with the video recording method (tapping), in other words Apple does not do a live demo. This allows Apple to package and present videos with visual effects from edits that can make videos more aesthetic. Unlike Google, when releasing the Pixel 9 Series Google was confident to do a live demo when explaining the AI features on Gemini. “It's worth noting, all the demonstrations we do here are live, you know! (not recorded),” said Gemini's Senior Director of Product, David Citron before doing a live demo.
4. Apple products with the same series but different features.
Brian Rakowski as Vice President of Product Management Google also indirectly satirizes the iPhone which usually distinguishes the features of the iphone with the same exclamation. Unlike the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, users will only get different sizes with the same innards. “Users can choose this Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL without any trimming of features and applications (except for the screen size). Both have the same powerful panel, the same chipset, powerful battery, and the same good camera,” said Brian.
5. Google Pixel's camera quality is much better.
You could say Google quite rarely compares the results of their latest photo shots with other brands at launch events, but this time it's different. In the event, Kenny Sulaimon as Product Manager Pixel Camera Google compared the results of Pixel 9 Pro XL and iPhone 15 Pro Max photos on Panorama mode in low light conditions. It can be seen in the picture that the photo results from the 9 Pro XL can capture mountain views at night quite clearly, much brighter than the iPhone 15 Pro Max photo results which display photos that are quite dark in the same conditions and environment. Night Sight now supports Panorama mode for low light conditions. You can see in the Night Sight Panorama photos of this 'other camera phone',” said Kenny,
