Tired of the Old WhatsApp Look? Chat Theme Feature Finally Arrives!

WhatsApp has finally given users the freedom to personalize the popular messaging app owned by Meta with the new chat theme customization feature. Users can now choose from 22 different themes to add a personal touch to their conversations.

Previously, the customization options on WhatsApp were quite limited, offering only Default, Light, and Dark modes. However, with the WhatsApp beta version 2.24.21.34 available through the Google Play Beta Program, Android users can now enjoy up to 20 color variations.

According to information from BABetaIndo, users can access a new settings page for chat themes that allows them to change chat colors and wallpapers according to their preferences. As reported by Android Police on Monday (October 14, 2024), users can set a default theme for all conversations or select different themes for individual chats.

Whenever a new theme is applied, WhatsApp will automatically adjust the chat colors accordingly. For those seeking more customization, colors for specific conversations can also be manually changed.

The good news is that this customization is private, meaning only the user will see the theme changes, so there's no need to worry about how the chat appearance might be judged by message recipients.

Although this feature has been launched in beta, access is still limited to a small number of users. For iOS users, the feature has also begun rolling out through WhatsApp version 24.20.71, but not all iPhone users can access it yet.
