Samsung A06 Released With Key Island Design and 90Hz Refresh Rate

Samsung officially released its latest entry-level smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A06 in Vietnam last Friday, precisely on August 16, 2024.

Samsung Galaxy A06 uses a body design called “Key Island”. The name Key Island is inspired by the placement of the side buttons on the right frame of the body which is slightly more prominent than the surrounding area which is flat.

The buttons on the Key Island are the power button, which can also be used as a fingerprint scanner, and the volume button.

The same design has been used on the Samsung Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 Series mid-tier devices. Now, the Key Island design is also provided for low-end phones.

Not only that, the back of the Samsung Galaxy A06 also has vertical lines that can prevent fingerprint marks when touched.

For its own chipset, the Samsung Galaxy A06 uses the MediaTek Helio G85 with 12 Nanometer fabrication. This chipset has eight cores (octa-core) including two Cortex-A75 cores with a maximum clockspeed of 2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores with a clockspeed of 1.8 GHz.  And for the GPU or graphics processor using Mali-G52 MC2.

The Helio G85 System-on-Chip (SoC) is also accompanied by 4GB/6GB RAM and 64 GB/128 GB eMMC 5.1 storage. But there is no need to worry about the lack of storage, because users can still expand the storage by adding microSD.

The A06 is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery and 25 Watt fast charging.
The latest smartphone from Samsung uses a 6.7-inch LCD screen with HD Plus resolution (1,600 x 720 pixels), 90 Hz refresh rate, 82.1 percent screen-to-body ratio, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 262 ppi pixel density.

The higher refresh rate certainly improves the user experience of scrolling the screen when playing social media, multi tasking, and playing games more smoothly.

For photography, this low-end phone is equipped with a 50 MP (f/1.8) main camera and a 2 MP (f/2.4) depth camera. The rear camera duo is positioned vertically without modules, and is accompanied by an LED flash light for night photography. The Samsung Galaxy A06's selfie camera has a resolution of 8 MP (f/2.0), and is housed in a waterdrop-like module.
