Online Gambler Receive Bansos, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Make Clarification
Muhadjir Effendy as the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) clarified the public's misunderstanding of his words about online gambling victims will receive social assistance (bansos). The Coordinating Minister emphasized that those who receive social assistance are the families of the perpetrators who are victims, not the judol perpetrators.
After performing the Eid al-Adha prayer, the Coordinating Minister for PMK said, "I caught, from the public opinion, there are some people who think that the victims of online gambling are the perpetrators. The perpetrators in this case are the players and those who make the victims are the bookmakers, then followed up again when I said that later the victims of online gambling will be able to get social assistance, they think that the gamblers will get assistance. So that is misleading, it is not like that,"
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also discussed Article 303 of the Criminal Code and Article 27 of Law Number 11 of 2008, Article on ITE, which explains that gambling offenders are lawbreakers and they are included in the class of criminal offenders. The Coordinating Minister for PMK argued that the families of the perpetrators must have suffered material and psychological losses due to the actions of the judol perpetrators.
"Therefore, the perpetrators, both players and bookies, are lawbreakers and must be dealt with and that is the task of the Cyber, Online Gambling Crackdown Task Force, their main task. And I received an explanation from the Minister of Communication and Information, although I have not received the decree, I will later become the Deputy Director, the Chairperson of the Steering Committee is the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, right?"
The Coordinating Minister for PMK added, "So once again I emphasize that the victims of online gambling are not the perpetrators, who are the victims? The victims are the families or closest individuals of the gamblers who are materially, financially, and psychologically disadvantaged and that is what we will later compensate."
Social assistance is disbursed to groups that are deemed to need assistance such as abandoned children and the poor. Muhadjir said the families of gamblers who were materially harmed because they sold their property and became poor would later be given social assistance.
"For those who have lost their property, lost their source of life or experienced psychological trauma, if they are in the form of a family. So the family, once again, the family and the family fall into poverty, then that's who will get social assistance. The poor are the responsibility of the state, in accordance with Article 34 paragraph 1 of the Constitution that the poor and abandoned children are cared for by the state. So the poor are not only victims of online gambling, all poor people are the responsibility of the state to be given compensation," Muhadjir added.
Providing social assistance to the perpetrator's family is also not that easy, but they must pass various verifications according to the provisions of social assistance recipients from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Ministry of Social Affairs). "And then it will be processed, the standards will also be checked, the criteria match those set by the Ministry of Social Affairs, then there is verification, if it is confirmed that he has indeed fallen into poverty due to online gambling, he will get social assistance. So don't imagine gambling players, then poor then immediately distributed social assistance, that's not the case," said the Coordinating Minister for PMK.
