Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Teaser Released, Set for Indonesia Theatrical Release in May 2025
On Tuesday, November 26, Disney released the long-awaited teaser for the live-action Lilo & Stitch, following the announcement of the project. Although the 32-second teaser is brief, it offers a glimpse of the stunning live-action design of Stitch, particularly as the character moves. However, the teaser does not yet show any human characters interacting with Stitch.
Lilo & Stitch is a science fiction film directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, which will reimagine the iconic story first introduced in Disney's 2002 animated film. The live-action version will tell the emotional tale of the bond between Lilo Pelekai, a young girl from Hawaii, and Stitch, an alien who crash-lands on Earth.
Walt Disney Pictures announced the remake in 2018, and production officially began in 2023, filming on location in Oahu, Hawaii. Initially, the film was planned to premiere exclusively on the Disney+ platform, but it was later decided that it would also be released in theaters worldwide.
The live-action Lilo & Stitch is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 23, 2025, and is expected to compete with other major films releasing that summer.
The story of Lilo & Stitch revolves around the growing relationship between Lilo, a lonely, imaginative little girl, and Stitch, an alien created as a destructive weapon. After escaping from galaxy agents, Stitch is adopted by Lilo, who shows him through her kindness that he is more than just a destructive force. The film also touches on the struggles of Lilo and her older sister, Nani, as they face the possibility of being separated by a social worker after the death of their parents.
