5 Interesting Facts About Captain America: Brave New World You Need to Know Before Watching!

Captain America: Brave New World is the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is part of Phase Five in The Multiverse Saga. This movie marks the fourth installment in the Captain America franchise and the debut of Anthony Mackie as the lead actor.

In this film, Anthony Mackie portrays Sam Wilson, formerly known as Falcon, who officially takes on the mantle of Captain America after Steve Rogers’ retirement. Sam Wilson’s journey toward becoming the new Captain America was previously explored in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) series.

With various changes and developments taking place, there are several important facts to know before watching Captain America: Brave New World, including the return of familiar characters and the introduction of new ones who will shape Sam Wilson’s story as a superhero.

1. Thaddeus Ross Becomes U.S. President

In Brave New World, Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (played by Harrison Ford) returns as a significant character in the story. However, this time, he no longer serves as an Army General or Secretary of State.

Ross now holds the highest position in the government as the President of the United States. Upon taking office, he immediately announces various policies and plans, including reestablishing cooperation with Captain America and promising to authorize the reformation of The Avengers.

2. Celestial Island

The film also highlights Celestial Island, which consists of the remnants of Tiamut introduced in Eternals (2021). After being largely ignored in previous MCU films and series, this massive island finally gains recognition.

Celestial Island becomes a crucial area in negotiations between the United States and other developed nations. This is due to its rich reserves of adamantium, a valuable resource with strength and functionality comparable to vibranium.

3. Introduction of the New Falcon

In addition to featuring Sam Wilson as the new Captain America, Brave New World also introduces a new Falcon to replace his previous role.

This new sidekick of Captain America is U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Joaquin Torres (played by Danny Ramirez). He faithfully accompanies Sam Wilson on various missions throughout the story.

4. The Emergence of Serpent Society

Brave New World also marks the debut of Serpent Society in the MCU saga as one of Sam Wilson's adversaries. This group of supervillains is recruited to carry out a secret mission.

Serpent Society is led by Seth Voelker, also known as Sidewinder, portrayed by Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito.

5. The Return of Samuel Sterns

Captain America: Brave New World also has a strong connection to The Incredible Hulk (2008), particularly through the return of Samuel Sterns (played by Tim Blake Nelson).

As a cellular biologist who was exposed to Bruce Banner’s/Hulk’s blood, Sterns plays a crucial role in the story. He utilizes his superhuman intelligence amidst the ongoing conflicts in Brave New World.
